Terms and Disclaimer
ICD10Ref is owned and operated by HH People Solutions LLC. By using this site you agree to these terms.
A reference aid, not official guidance
ICD10Ref is intended for use in the United States and is not directed to users in other countries.
ICD10Ref helps you look up ICD-10-CM codes. It does not replace the official ICD-10-CM code set or the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting. Code assignment must be based on the provider’s documentation and the official guidelines. ICD10Ref does not give coding, billing, clinical or legal advice. You are responsible for the codes you assign and report, and payer rules can differ from the official guidelines.
Labels such as “Billable” and “Complete code, valid to report” mean only that the code is a complete code in the ICD-10-CM code set for the fiscal year shown. They are not a guarantee that the code is the right one for a patient, that the documentation supports it, that the service is medically necessary, or that any payer will cover or pay a claim. Nothing on this site is a coding or billing guarantee.
Where the information comes from, and its limits
Code data comes from CMS and NCHS (ICD-10-CM, public domain). Summaries, captions, tips and other explanatory text on this site were written by ICD10Ref and can contain mistakes. Code sets and guidelines change, and this site may be out of date. We work to keep it accurate, but we do not promise that it is complete, current or error-free. The site is provided “as is.” To the fullest extent the law allows, HH People Solutions LLC is not liable for any loss or damage that results from using the site or relying on its content.
Guidelines tips. Some code pages show a short tip quoted from the ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, with a link to the full text. The quotes are checked against the official document when the site is built, but the Guidelines are the authority, and following them is required under HIPAA. A tip is only a pointer. It is not a substitute for reading the Guidelines, and it is not coding advice. The Guidelines change each year, so confirm the wording in the current official document.
Patient information
Never enter patient information (PHI) on this site. That includes the search box, My notes and any message you send us. ICD10Ref is not built to protect patient information.
My notes
My notes is a private notepad on billable code pages. Read this section before you rely on it.
- Your notes live only in your browser, on your device. They are stored in your browser’s own storage. They are never sent to ICD10Ref, and we cannot see them.
- We cannot recover lost notes. We have no copy, so we cannot restore, reset or retrieve them for you.
- Notes can be deleted without warning. Clearing browsing data, cookies or site data; a browser or phone cleanup tool; a private or incognito window; switching to another browser or device; or using a different website address can all make notes disappear or become unreachable.
- Notes do not sync. A note exists only in the one browser where you wrote it.
- You are responsible for backups. Use the Backup button often and keep the file somewhere safe.
- Never enter patient information (PHI) in a note.
- HH People Solutions LLC and ICD10Ref are not responsible for notes that are lost, deleted or not saved, for any reason.
